The 2012 Honduras Mission Trip is underway.  This year our Team is once again primarily focused on Christian Education and construction. Please pray for the Mission Teams and support them in any way you can.

Honduras is the third poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. With a per capita GDP of only $3000 it ranks 44th of the 47 western countries in GNP. And, as you probably know, Honduras has been frequently devastated by earthquakes and hurricanes. Over 65% of the population is impoverished by USAID classification. Although, as you might suspect, it is ravaged by crime, drugs and disease, its people are for the most part gentle, quiet, generous, gracious and grateful. We continue to learn much from our Honduras friends about faith, hope and love. The children are beautiful, well-behaved, loving and respectful. These children are the hope of Honduras.

The Episcopal Church, under the able leadership of Bishop Lloyd Allen is doing wonderful things in Honduras.  Building thousands of homes for victims of Mitch and creating orphanages, schools, clinics and churches throughout the country the Diocese of Honduras has grown to over 67,000. With a total population of six and a half million, Honduras is experiencing a real and positive impact through the work of our Episcopal brothers and sisters. We do what we can to help them.

In 2012 our Mission Team will travel to a new site: . We leave on Wednesday, February 8 and return on Wednesday, February 15. We've been asked by Bishop Allen to    and will also provide a week long Christian Education Program for over 100 local children.   Click on "2012  On-Site Pictures" to see a day by day snapshot of this year's Honduras mission trip.
