We go to Honduras as servants to our Honduran brothers and sisters in Christ. We serve side by side with them as part of a team that is working to make Honduras a better place to live. We are careful not to impose our cultural weirdness on them and try hard to adapt to their needs. Father Joe Rhodes of Baton Rouge recited for us the Honduras Mission Beatitude in his sermon at St. Mary’s in Tegucigalpa: “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not get bent out of shape”. Our being there to pray with and work with our brothers and sisters in Christ is more important than any physical thing we might accomplish while there. And, we come away from this place of poverty and beautiful people with far more than we brought.
We ask that missioners make a full commitment to the mission because each person is critical to its success. Pre-trip meetings are important to allow the team to be bound by the Holy Spirit and for mission planning. Pre-trip meetings are listed below:

The Honduras Mission Trip is primarily sponsored by Epiphany-Richardson, and Good Shepherd - Dallas with support from other Dallas area churches. The primary ministries are Christian Education and construction. These ministries provide support in areas where the need is greatest. Some of these areas and needs are fairly constant from year to year while others vary.
The
budget for the mission trip is approximately $45,000.00. Each missioner is asked to pay his/her travel and
accommodation expenses, however budget is available to support missioners who
cannot afford to pay their own way. Otherwise the cost is $1000 per person for round trip airfare
and hotel expenses which includes all but about three meals. The rest of the $45,000.00 is spent on construction
and Christian Education supplies. Each missioner carries his/her entire weeks clothes and
toiletries in a carry-on bag. A large, 50 lb. military duffle bag full of
construction and Christian Education supplies are checked on the flight by each missioner. This avoids
shipping fees and maximizes the amount of supplies we can get there per dollar
budget. In addition to paying their own travel and accommodations we ask each missioner to raise $400 to help support the cost of the
Mission.
Some immunizations are necessary: Typhoid, Tetanus, and Hepatitis A can be
gotten at the Dallas County Health Services on the Stemmons Expwy. outer road just past
the Inwood exit.
