The
sewing clinic was a new ministry in 2003. Teaching our Honduran sisters how to
use modern sewing equipment could lead to a new industry for the women of
San Juan to be sponsored by the church. Seven very used and fairly old table
machines were forced into working order and five pedal machines manufactured
in 1972 were removed from their original boxes and assembled to provide
twelve sewing stations for the ladies attending the clinic. One of the
duffle bags that came down from Dallas was stuffed with fabric and sewing
supplies donated by Epiphany members. The week was spent learning and
practicing basic skills then completing a project consisting of a
wrap-around skirt.
