Dental Clinic

There are some really bad teeth in Rincon de Dolores and for those who can’t afford dental care this condition can potentially become life threatening.  At this stage in our mission to this area it is all we can do to relieve the pain of the older people by pulling diseased teeth. If we can ever get caught up with this task and get some proper dental equipment in place (note the head mounted flashlight in the picture), preventative treatment for the children can begin. In 2004 we were blessed with two dentists and three on-the-job trained dental technicians who pulled teeth for six days and still didn’t get done.

The dental clinic was also held in one of the two classrooms in the school. Although the lighting wasn’t adequate, the rest of the accommodation proved to be very well suited to the needs of the clinic.

There is much need in Rincon de Dolores for a permanent dental clinic supported by missions, but until that can be achieved extraction is the most viable solution.
